(Coğrafya) Chinese Taipei (Çince: 中華臺北 veya 中華台北), çoğunlukla Tayvan ismi ile tanınan, Çin Cumhuriyeti'nin bazı uluslararası organizasyonlara ve hemen hemen tüm spor etkinliklerine katılırken kullandığı isimdir. Bu spor etkinlikleri arasında Olimpiyatlar ve Asya Oyunları da yer almaktadır. Tayvan'ın politik statüsünden dolayı çıkabilecek karışıklıkları önlemek amacı ile uluslararası topluluk çoğunlukla "Chinese Taipei" ismini tercih etmektedir. Resmi ismi olan Çin Cumhuriyeti'nin kullanılmasına, Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti tarafından, geçersiz olduğunu düşündüğü bir yönetime meşruiyet kazandıracağı ve iki Çin olduğu izlenimi vereceği gerekçeleri ile karşı çıkılmaktadır. Çin, genel "Tayvan" isminin kulanılmasına da Tayvan'ın Çin'den bağımsız olduğunu imâ edeceği sebebi ile karşı çıkmaktadır

In 1949 it became the administrative centre of the Chinese Nationalist government. It was designated a special municipality in 1967. Taipei is the commercial, financial, industrial, and transportation centre of Taiwan. Its many educational institutions include the National Taiwan University (1928). The city's National Palace Museum houses one of the world's largest collections of Chinese artifacts
