Scaloppine (plural scaloppini; sometimes misspelled as scallopini) is an Italian dish consisting of thinly sliced meat (most often veal, although chicken may also be used) that is dredged in wheat flour, sautéed, then cooked with a tomato-, wine-, or lemon-based sauce. The term piccata may also be used for this dish, with a typical variety being chicken piccata. It is prepared in Italian cuisine as well as Italian-American cuisine
