() named for Werner Heisenberg, its discoverer, translated into English from a variety of original German terms. Heisenberg originally called the concept Ungenauigkeit (inexactness) or Unbestimmtheit (underminedness), whereas his mentor and collaborator Niels Bohr often used Unsicherheit (unsureness).
