A movement of electrons
A flow of electricity through a conductor
Movement of electric charge carriers. In a wire, electric current is a flow of electrons that have been dislodged from atoms and is a measure of the quantity of electrical charge passing any point of the wire per unit time. Current in gases and liquids generally consists of a flow of positive ions in one direction together with a flow of negative ions in the opposite direction. Conventionally, the direction of electric current is that of the flow of the positive ions. In alternating current (AC) the motion of the charges is periodically reversed; in direct current (DC) it is not. A common unit of current is the ampere, a flow of one coulomb of charge per second, or 6.24 10^18 electrons per second
– the rate at which electric charge passes through a conductor (see equation 18 1)
A flow of electrically charged particles (electrons) along a conductor, such as wire
a continuous flow of electric charge through a material which conducts electricity, carried by ions and/or electrons Currents usually flow in a closed circuit, without beginning or end In daily life a current is generally driven through wires by a voltage ("electric pressure") produced by batteries or generators Some currents in space plasmas are also produced this way, but many are inherent to the way ions and electrons move through magnetic fields, e g their drifts
The rate of flow of charge past a given point in an electric circuit

the flow of electronically charged particles through a conducting circuit due to the presence of a potential difference The current at any point in a circuit is the amount of charge flowing per second; its SI unit is the ampere (coulomb per second)
The flow of charges; measured in amperes, (amps, A)
The flow of electric charge; measured in amperes (coulombs per second)
A flow of electrically charged particles such as electrons with a conductor or a circuit See Conduction, Electricity
A flow of electrons in an electrical conductor The strength or rate of movement of the electricity is measured in amperes
electric energy stored on or in an object It is the negative charge caused by an excess of electrons or the positive charge caused by a deficiency of electrons Its symbol is Q, q
The number of electrons per unit time moving past a point in an electrical CONDUCTOR; expressed in amps
electric current is measured in amperes, and is defined as the rate at which electric charge travels through a conductor
a continuous flow of electrons and/or ions, through a material with conducts electricity A currents usually flows in a closed circuit, without beginning or end In daily life currents are generally driven through wires by voltages, produced by batteries or generators In space plasmas, some currents may be produced this way, but many are inherent to the way ions and electrons move through magnetic fields, e g their drifts
The flow of electric charge through a material
a flow of electricity through a conductor; "the current was measured in amperes"
flow of electricity through a conductor
