Said of a positive measure: the property of a positive measure of a measure space, that given two measurable sets where the first set is contained in the second one, then the measure of the first set must be less than or equal to the measure of the second set
The state of being monotonic
The property of a system by which new wffs can be added to any set of wffs without invalidating previously valid derivations from that set If A is any wff, and and any sets of wffs, a system is monotonic iff A ,A In non-monotonic logics derivations can be invalidated when the set of premises is enlarged
Monotonicity is given when an ADC provides output codes that do not decrease/increase for a uniformly increasing/decreasing input signal, disregarding random noise (see also Random Noise)
The property of a method where an alternative can never be made to succeed by being ranked lower on some ballots   Doing this is using the "push-over" strategy
Holds for a voting system if when a voter raises the valuation for a winning alternative it remains a winning alternative, and when a voter lowers the valuation for a losing alternative it remains a losing alternative
A voting system violates monotonicity if a voter can raise a candidate in the social ordering by lowering that candidate in his individual ordering
