/ˈsōlər rəˈʤekt/ /ˈsoʊlɜr rɪˈʤɛkt/
Etymology
() With increasing costs of energy and concern over climate change, people are seeking alternative energy solutions for their home to reduce their carbon footprint, increase energy efficiency, and decrease their monthly electric bill. While many people use solar energy to ‘green their homes’ and provide renewable power, there are some who for one reason or another are not good candidates for a rooftop solar panel installation. Reasons a person might be a solar reject include:
* A home that has too much shade, or is north-facing
* A homeowner association that has covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&R;) that dictate the preservation of the neighborhood sight-line
* A roofline that is steep, has insufficient surface area, or has historical or design integrity that must be maintained
