(Ticaret) (APS) A real-time tool combining material and capacity planning at the same time, as opposed to separate batch material and capacity runs. APS tools use finite scheduling and material availability data to schedule orders and demand. They can typically be used to evaluate the effect of adding single new orders into an existing schedule, and are often used as a short-term tool in conjunction with longer-term family level planning

A short- term, detailed view of capacity that verifies the feasibility of firming up planned orders and releasing them to the floor. CRP systems normally function as a capacity status report, without generating exception messages that recommend order reschedules or moving production to alternate work centers or lines
central planning
establishment of goals and methods by government officials for the production and distribution of goods
central planning
The economic system adopted by Socialist countries In this system, the processes of allocating resources, establishing production targets, and setting product prices are determined by government planners rather than the operation of market forces Such a system discourages innovation, productivity, and quality It provides little incentive for plant managers to experiment with new technology The stress of fulfilling quantitative goals set by the state inhibits improving the quality of the product or the production process The absence of competition and the existence of guaranteed markets eliminates incentives for managers to cut cost or improve quality Above all, prices do not provide a guide to help managers determine what goods are needed by consumers and how to improve productivity by lowering costs
central planning
Making important, detailed decisions at a centralized location by a government agency that has the power to enforce the decisions Central planning is a key ingredient of socialist economic systems, where high-level government officials make the important decisions as opposed to those decisions being made at a local and/or private level (More)

distribution resource planning
(Ticaret) (DRP) The function of planning inventory levels, supply and replenishment logic, and demand response for an organization's distribution network. After defining the network, orders and forecasts at distribution facilities that drive projected stock levels below the reorder point trigger a suggested replenishment order from the supply source, based on lead time and lot size parameters. Each distribution point passes demand to the next supply source, which is either a vendor, another distribution center or a manufacturing plant. DRP also incorporates logistics resource planning, and is sometimes described as MRP for a finished goods network
economic planning
careful planning which makes the best use of available resources
economic planning
Use of government to make economic decisions with respect to the use of resources. In communist countries with a state planning apparatus, detailed and rigid planning results in a command economy; land, capital, and the means of production are publicly owned and centrally allocated, and the government makes both micro-and macroeconomic decisions. Microeconomic decisions include what goods and services to produce, the quantities to produce, the prices to charge, and the wages to pay. Macroeconomic decisions include the rate of investment and the extent of foreign trade. In most industrialized countries, governments influence their economies indirectly through monetary and fiscal policies. A few key economic sectors may be publicly owned, but the trend has been toward the privatization of industries that were socialized in the aftermath of the Great Depression and World War II. Japan is the most notable example of economic planning in a capitalist framework; government and industry cooperate closely in planning patterns of capital investment, research and development, and export strategies. family planning

family planning
Access to family planning and contraceptive services has altered social and economic roles of women Family planning has provided health benefits such as smaller family size and longer interval between the birth of children; increased opportunities for preconceptional counseling and screening; fewer infant, child, and maternal deaths; and the use of barrier contraceptives to prevent pregnancy and transmission of human immunodeficiency virus and other STDs
family planning
Family planning is the practice of using contraception to control the number of children you have. a family planning clinic. A program to regulate the number and spacing of children in a family through the practice of contraception or other methods of birth control. the practice of controlling the number of children that are born by using contraception. Use of measures designed to regulate the number and spacing of children within a family, largely to curb population growth and ensure each family's access to limited resources. The first attempts to offer family planning services began with private groups and often aroused strong opposition. Activists such as Margaret Sanger in the U.S., Marie Stopes in England, and Dhanvanthis Rama Rau in India eventually succeeded in establishing clinics for family planning and health care. Today many countries have established national policies and encourage the use of public family services. The United Nations and the World Health Organization offer technical assistance. finite capacity planning
(Ticaret) Capacity planning systems that stay within defined capacity limits when loading proposed production schedules against resources. Finite systems rearrange the initial dates for planned and open production orders by moving them forward or backward in time as far as needed in order not to exceed the available capacity. Infinite capacity planning systems leave orders on the existing dates and merely show whether the load on a resource is over or under its defined capacity, without recommending changes

It assumes the use of a base, integrated system and the sharing of a common database and operating parameters by all functions and departments
material requirements planning
(Ticaret) (MRP) The process that uses the MPS as demand, explodes the bill of material for specified MPS items, nets those requirements against on-hand inventory and existing open orders, and recommends placing new production and purchase orders and changes to existing orders based on parameters that consider safety stock levels, lot sizes and lead times. It is based on the idea of dependent demand (demand for an item is due to its usage in other items) and starts at the highest level in the bill of material, stopping at the first level where the quantity of inventory plus incoming receipts is adequate to meet demand and it is not necessary to send a requirement to the next lower level. While sometimes considered complex due to many levels in the bill of material or a large number of items, MRP in general is just a calculator and depends completely on the accuracy of the MPS, bills of material and order date and quantity information to be useful
medium-term planning

urban planning
Programs pursued as a means of improving the urban environment and achieving certain social and economic objectives. Evidence of urban planning can be found in the ruins of ancient cities, including orderly street systems and conduits for water and sewage. During the Renaissance, European city areas were consciously planned to achieve circulation of the populace and provide fortification against invasion. Such concepts were exported to the New World, where William Penn, in founding the city of Philadelphia, developed the standard gridiron plan the laying out of streets and plots of land adaptable to rapid change in land use. Modern urban planning and redevelopment arose in response to the disorder and squalor of the slums created by the Industrial Revolution. The urban planner best known for his transformation of Paris was Georges-Eugène Haussmann. City planners imposed regulatory laws establishing standards for housing, sanitation, water supply, sewage, and public health conditions, and introduced parks and playgrounds into congested city neighbourhoods. In the 20th century, zoning the regulation of building activity according to use and location came to be a key tool for city planners. See also Pierre-Charles L'Enfant
