Definition of ampacity in English English dictionary
The root mean square of the electrical current which a device (usually a wire) can carry within a specific environment (including temperature rating, power loss, heat dissipation, etc.) It is measured in amperes, (amps) and is most often used to rate electrical wires and cables
(Mühendislik) Ampacity, sometimes specified by manufacturers as a current rating, is the RMS electric current which a device can carry within specified temperature limitations in a specified environment dependent upon: a) temperature rating, b) power loss, c) heat dissipation
Current handling capability The maximum current a conductor can carry without being heated beyond a safe limit
The maximum current an insulated wire or cable can safely carry without exceeding either the insulation or jacket material limitations (Same as Current Carrying Capacity)
Refers to the how much current a wire can safely carry For example, a 12 gauge electrical copper wire can safely carry up to 20 amps
Current-carrying capacity, expressed in amperes, of a conductor or cable under stated thermal conditions
"Ampere capacity", the maximum allowable continuous current carrying capacity of a conductor without exceeding its temperature rating Measured in Amperes Affected by conductor material, insulation temperature rating, ambient temperature, installation condition and cable grouping
