Etymologie
[ 'yü(&)l ] (noun.) before 12th century. From the Middle English yole, from Old English geōl, either cognate withOnline Oxford English Dictionary or from ODS eng. yule laant fra nordisk, the English Yule was borrowed from Old Norse Old Norse jól, the name of a pre-Christian holiday held in midwinter, and later applied to the Christian celebration of Christmas.
