Herkesin gidebileceği bir evi, sığınabileceği bir yuvası var. Benim evim çöllerdir, yurdum çorak topraklar. Kuzey rüzgarı ışığım, yağmurda bir tek paklanırım.
- Everyone has a house to go to, a home where they can find shelter. My house is the desert, my home the barren heath. The north wind is my fire, the rain my only bath.
Kuzey rüzgarı bütün gün sürekli esti.
- The north wind blew continuously all day.
Poyraz bütün gün esti.
- The north wind blew all day.
To illustrate more fully, if an author managed over a certain number of his pages to produce a feeling of sultriness, or oppression, in the reader, this would unconsciously awaken in the reader the desire for a cold, fresh northwind — and thus some aspect of a northwind would be effective if called forth by some aspect of sultriness.
