- (Muzik) Mashup (or mash it up) is a Jamaican Creole term meaning to destroy. In the context of reggae, dancehall or ska music, it can take on a positive connotation and mean an exceptional performance or event. The term has also been used in hip-hop, especially in cities such as New York that have a high Jamaican population. DJ Z-TRIP's Uneasy Listening album is an example of a DJ mashup (see Z-Trip, 2004). DJ Danger Mouse as well records mashups; he combined the Beatles White Album with Jay-Z's Black album to create the Grey Album
