Toprak kademesi; ön siperler ile siper kenarlarının sığınak için doğru kaymasına ve yıkılmasına engel olur ve kirişlere destek vazifesi görür. Siperlerin ön kısımlarında bu vazifeyi dirsek kademesi görür
