acclimation

listen to the pronunciation of acclimation
الإنجليزية - الإنجليزية
The process of becoming, or the state of being, acclimated, or habituated to a new climate; acclimatization
Adjustment of an organism to a new habitat or environment
A phenotypic response to the environment, often a reversible charge in the morphology or physiology or an organism in response to an environmental change
phenotypic adaptation to environmental fluctuations; the gradual and reversible adjustment of physiology or morphology as a result of changing environmental conditions
The process by which fish become used to a given environment For example fish which are usually held at one temperature, will take time to adjust to being held at a different temperature During the acclimation period, fish may be more susceptible to pathogens and may exhibit poor appetites and food conversion rates Acclimation may be required for changes in water quality, lighting regimes, husbandry practices etc Bacteria used in biological filters also require acclimation to changes in water quality, during which period they may perform their function at a reduced rate
Change that occurs in an organism to allow it to tolerate a new environment (Source: Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center, 1990)
The habituation of an organism's physiological response to environmental conditions (usually applied to laboratory environments)
response by an animal that enables it to tolerate a change in a single factor (e g temperature) in its environment
Adjustment to environmental change by an individual The physiological adjustment or increased tolerance shown by an individual organism to environmental change See Adaptation
1 Basically, same as acclimatization 2 Adaptation of living organisms to all aspects of the environment, not just the climatic Examples of acclimation would be adjustment of plants to growth at elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations or to soil water deficits
Change that occurs in an organism to allow it to tolerate a new environment
a change that occurs in an organism to allow it to tolerate a new environment
adaptation to a new climate (a new temperature or altitude or environment)
{i} adaption, process of becoming accustomed, adjustment
