{n} a name given to the sun, the supposed center and source of electricity
A negatively charged sustainable elementary particle that consists of ordinary matter Atoms consist of a positively charged nucleus surrounded by a cloud of negatively charged electrons Electrons emitted from the nucleus of an atom are called beta particles
Electrons are small nuclear particles with a negative electrical charge usually found moving around atomic nuclei When not associated with atomic nuclei, they are often referred to as beta particles They have a mass of 9 10 X 10-28 grams; this is 1/1836 the mass of a proton

Electrons carry electrical current and successful manipulation of electrons allows electronic devices, such as the one you are using, to function

A negatively charged elementary particle that normally resides outside (but is bound to) the nucleus of an atom
An electron is a tiny particle of matter that is smaller than an atom and has a negative electrical charge. a very small piece of matter with a negative electrical charge that moves around the nucleus (=central part) of an atom proton, neutron neutron (electro- + -on (as in ion)). An electron has a small mass, less than 0.1% the mass of an atom. Under normal circumstances, electrons move about the nucleus of an atom in orbitals that form an electron cloud bound in varying strengths to the positively charged nucleus. Electrons closer to the nucleus are held more tightly. The first subatomic particle discovered, the electron was identified in 1897 by J. J. Thomson. electron microscopy electron spin resonance electron paramagnetic resonance EPR

Because electrons cannot travel very far in air, the electron beam and the sample must be kept in a vacuum. Two different instruments are used. In the scanning electron microscope, a moving beam of electrons is scanned across a sample; electrons scattered by the object are focused by magnetic "lenses" to produce an image of the object's surface similar to an image on a television screen. The images appear three-dimensional; they may be of small organisms or their parts, of molecules such as DNA, or even of large individual atoms (e.g., uranium, thorium). In the transmission electron microscope, the electron beam passes through a very thin, carefully prepared sample and is focused onto a screen or photographic plate to visualize the interior structure of such specimens as cells and tissues
